Hope & Comfort
Eternity shall not discover the shadow of a spot in our Beloved, but rather, as ages revolve, his hidden glories shall shine forth with yet more inconceivable splendour.
The Lord’s mercy often rides to the door of our hearts on the black horse of affliction. Jesus uses the whole range of our experience to wean us from earth and woo us to Heaven.
Happy are we who belong to such a shepherd, whose humanity communes with us, and whose divinity protects us.
Who knows but the set time of blessing is come for you?
The hope of heaven is the most potent force for the product of virtue; it is a fountain of joyous effort.
Why should it always be winter time in our hearts? We must have our seed time, it is true, but O for a spring time—yea, a summer season, which shall give promise of an early harvest.
What a state of safety and privilege is this nearness to God through Jesus!
Spiritual thirst is bitter to bear, but we need not bear it—the promise indicates a well; let us be of good heart, and look for it.
