He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you were healed.

When I was anxious about the possibility of a just God pardoning me, I understood and saw by faith that He who is the Son of God became man, and in His own blessed person bore my sin in His own body on the tree. I saw the chastisement of my peace was laid on Him, and that with His stripes I was healed.
Surely he has borne our sickness and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
