A sweet sin, harboured in the heart, will prevent a soul from laying hold upon Christ by faith.
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt. They have done abominable deeds. There is no one who does good.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
If you think yourselves already converted, and that encourages you to give yourselves the greater liberty in sinning, this is a certain sign that you are not converted.
If men are poor, they learn to be envious; they malign those that are above them.

God is our Father, but God is our Judge. When we know that, our sin takes on a darker colouring entirely.

One leak will sink a ship, and one sin will destroy a sinner.
Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
