Love
The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, that ran down on the beard, even Aaron’s beard, that came down on the edge of his robes, like the dew of Hermon, that comes down on the hills of Zion; for there Yahweh gives the blessing, even life forever more.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.
Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
All things must be managed here to the supporting of the weak, as well as to the warning of the unruly.
All who believed were together, and had all things in common;
And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; so does earnest counsel from a man’s friend. Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend. Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster. A neighbor who is near is better than a distant brother.
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel. Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
May the Lord make you to increase and abound in love toward one another and toward all men, even as we also do toward you,
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
If events change men, much more persons. No man can meet another on the street without making some mark upon him. We say we exchange words when we meet; what we exchange is souls.
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor prefer one another,
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Let brotherly love continue.
But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another, for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;
But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
The church ought to watch over her young children, just as mothers watch their little children.
