Strength & Perseverance
Before, his carnal self was his end; and his pleasure and worldly profits, and credit were his way; and now God and everlasting glory are his end; and Christ, and the spirit, and word, and ordinances, holiness to God, and righteousness, and mercy to men, these are his way.
Do it speedily, without delay. If you be not willing to turn to-day, you are not willing to do it at all.
When once you be converted, the Holy Ghost will give you another nature and inclination.
This is not a change in one, or two, or twenty points, but in the whole soul, and in the very end and bent of the conversation.
It is not to mend the old house, but to pull down all, and build a-new on Christ, the rock and sure foundation. It is not to mend somewhat in a carnal course of life, but to mortify the flesh, and live after the spirit.
Up therefore presently, and fly as for your lives; as you would be gone out of your house, if it were all on fire.
The greatest enemy to man is himself; and the greatest judgment in this life is to be left to himself.
