Faith chides down passion; when reason begins to sink, let faith swim.
No confidence in the flesh must be our motto, as it is the foundation of God’s gospel.
Perfect resignation to GOD was a sure way to heaven, a way in which we had always sufficient light for our conduct. That in the beginning of the spiritual life, we ought to be faithful in doing our duty and denying ourselves.
Blessed are they who can deny themselves, and put Christ in the room of themselves.
God help me to watch and to be sober, and to pray that I may shun the cause of this man’s misery.
