Strength & Perseverance
It takes power for the man of God in the pulpit to speak plainly about particular sins before the faces of those who are living in them.
He must fight the flesh. Even after conversion he carries within him a nature prone to evil, and a heart weak and unstable as water. That heart will never be free from imperfection in this world, and it is a miserable delusion to expect it.
Sin doth not only still abide in us, but is still acting, still labouring to bring forth the deeds of the flesh.
