You must be divorced from your sin, or you cannot be married to Christ.

It does at first seem most amazing to an awakened man that salvation should really be for him as a lost and guilty one. He thinks that it must be for him as a penitent man, forgetting that his penitence is a part of his salvation.
Spread all your wickedness before him, and do not plead your goodness; but plead your badness, and your necessity.
Repentance is an act of the will—in its beginning there may be no sense of gladness or reconciliation with God.
