Guidance & Wisdom
For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in deception.
For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
All true service begins in personal contact with Jesus.
Our sanctification did not depend upon changing our works, but in doing that for GOD’s sake, which we commonly do for our own.
If we can’t be a lighthouse, let us be a tallow candle.
Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
We, too, may be engaged in the most menial part of the Lord’s work, but it is a great privilege to do anything for ‘the king.’
Do not confound work and fruit. There may be a good deal of work for Christ that is not the fruit of the heavenly Vine.
When a man gets so full that he can’t hold any more, then he is just ready for God’s service.
Service becomes perfect freedom, until the Christian is forced to exclaim, ‘This happy service! Who could dream earth had such liberty?’
Prayer not only teaches and strengthens to work: work teaches and strengthens to pray.
Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Yahweh in ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and the right way. Only fear Yahweh, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things he has done for you.
Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor plan, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
A faithful servant may be wiser than the master, and yet retain the true spirit and posture of the servant.
